Sandgate Family Dental is a family-owned dental clinic at 12 Lagoon Street, in the heart of Sandgate village. We provide general, preventive, cosmetic, and restorative dental care for patients of all ages — from toddlers coming in for their first check-up through to grandparents needing denture work.

A Sandgate Dental Clinic With Real History
This practice has been part of the Sandgate community since 2007, when it was originally established as Sandgate Dental by Dr Irina Collins. In 2022, we took over the practice and renamed it Sandgate Family Dental — bringing a fresh approach while continuing the tradition of quality local dental care that patients in this area had come to rely on.
Since then, we’ve grown steadily. We’ve welcomed new team members, expanded our range of services, and invested in making the clinic a place where families feel genuinely comfortable — not just tolerated.
We’re still a small, locally run clinic. That’s by design. It means you’ll see the same familiar faces, we won’t rush your appointments, and we’ll actually get to know you and your family over time.
Our Approach to Dental Care
We’re prevention-first. Regular check-ups and cleans, early detection, and patient education sit at the centre of everything we do. We’d always rather catch something small now than deal with something bigger later.
When treatment is needed, we take the time to explain your options clearly — what’s involved, what it costs, and what we’d recommend. We don’t pressure anyone into treatment they’re not comfortable with. Informed patients make better decisions, and that’s what we want for you.
Our clinical approach is conservative and evidence-based. We use current techniques and pursue ongoing professional development, but we don’t chase trends. We do what the evidence says works.
For nervous patients: If dental visits make you anxious, you’re in good company — a lot of our patients feel the same way. Dr Nina has a particular interest in helping anxious patients, and the whole team is experienced in working at a pace that feels comfortable. We explain everything before we start, so there are no surprises.

Dr Nina Stallman — Principal Dentist
Dr Nina is the principal dentist and owner of Sandgate Family Dental. She took over the practice in 2022 and has shaped it into the family-focused clinic it is today. She’s known for her gentle chairside manner and her habit of actually explaining things in plain English — not dental jargon.

Dr Nima Kancherla — Associate Dentist
Dr Nima graduated with her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2011 and practised in both public and private clinics in Victoria for eight years before moving to Brisbane and joining the team. Our dental assistants and reception team are a big part of what makes a visit here feel different from a large corporate practice. They’ll remember your name, ask how the kids are going, and make sure your appointment runs smoothly from check-in to check-out.
We’re a small team — and we like it that way. It means consistency. You won’t be explaining your history to a different person every visit.

What to Expect as a Patient
We try to make every part of the experience as straightforward as possible. Here’s what that means in practice:
Before your appointment: You can book online at a time that suits you, or call us on (07) 3269 6252. If you’re a new patient, our new patient guide covers what to bring and what to expect.
At your appointment: We’ll start by listening. We want to understand your concerns, your history, and your goals before recommending anything. Your dentist will explain findings and treatment options clearly, including costs, before any work begins.
Families and children: We see patients of all ages, including young children. Eligible families may be able to access bulk-billed children’s dental care through the CDBS. We’re experienced in helping kids feel comfortable in the chair — even the reluctant ones.
Health funds: We work with most major health funds and offer on-the-spot HICAPS claiming. You can check your fund on our health funds page.
